And passing by the Accountant office today, i overheard him emphasize with our office cleaner, who even after getting the labour day salary increment of 12.5% still takes home something less than 12K. How does this 35 year old gentleman survive considering he has a family? I thought i was lucky earning a 'good' figure until i chanced upon this article detailing where my salo goes. And shock on you, most of your pay goes back to the Kenyan government inform of taxes. This is how your robbed off your income by the Kenyan Government. The Government takes your 30% through P.A.Y.E The Government takes your 16 % on every item you spend- Accountants call this V.A.T The City Council of Nairobi takes another Ksh. 250 per day if you drive a mutumba Toyota like i do. |
